First we talked about denim jackets and shorts, but I think it's time to talk about something other than denim and move on to
The Crop Top
Some History: You may be surprised to find out that the crop top first appeared in the 40’s. It was a conservative way to show some skin during poolside parties and picnics. It gained major popularity during 70’s and 80’s due to the hippie trend and pop culture. Obviously, the trend didn’t die in the 90’s but when the early 2000’s rolled in, the trend went on break. This break ended around 2011 and the crop top trend has been alive & popular ever since.
If you’ve wandered through Beauty Statement before, this crop top shouldn’t look unfamiliar to you. (I think I’ve used it in at least every other blog post) I swear I have good reason to...
First of all, it’s fitted and black. It goes with anything that I wear.
Second it’s perfect for when I feel like being edgy and want a black monochromatic look. This is also great to throw on whenever I need a top that will balance out loud patterned pants.
Last, I adore about this top are the surprise details on the back. It has cut-outs and a bulky gold zipper that gives the top some spontaneous flare.
