I’ve always had an eye for items that stand out, so it's no surprise that I picked this set up from Corvallis' local clothing store, The Golden Crane. It not only has a base as red as roses but it also has a detailed culturalistic pattern. When it comes to pieces that have loud characteristics, it's important to wear other articles that only harmonize with it. It's best to add other pieces with either solid complementary colors or simple neutrals(white, black.) There were two basic ways to style this skirt; formal and casual.
For the formal look, I paired it with the set’s matching shirt. When the shirt is tucked in, it gives the illusion that it's a dress. I paired it with my neutral wedges. Not only does this add more femininity, but it also highlights the garment. It brings the pattern forward so the main focus will be on the 'dress' itself.
For the next look, I decided to play off the black fragments placed on the skirt. Since I was now going for casual, I added my trustee fitted black cropped top. A top like this is always great to pair with patterned items such as this because it doesn't add too much to the outfit. I swapped the beige wedges for my black ones. The dark heaviness in the black tones take some of the attention off of the skirt to balance out the overall look. These items tie the settle black fragment in the skirt to create a cohesive look. Just for some more flare, I added a floppy hat that will bring a more outdoor summer's day feel to the outfit.
